A manufacturer of reed relays had a new product design that was several months away from full production, yet they needed a cut-away photo for some advanced sales materials. From their engineering drawings of the components, plus prototype samples of the actual components used to make the final product, we created this cut-away illustration of the finished product.
A 3D computer model of the product components was built from the engineering drawings. These components were then arranged as the actual parts would be to assemble a finished product. The cut-away illustration was created from multiple rendering passes, one for each component. The separate images created by the rendering passes were composited in Adobe Photoshop, superimposed over photos of the actual prototype component parts and the original engineering drawing. This illustration (done in 1996) was the catalyst for the March 2006 ECN Magazine cover illustration that follows. |

A manufacturer of rubber sealing rings for concrete drainage components needed a photo of a new product as used in a typical application. We built a 3D model of the concrete drainage components and their rubber/metal seal products as a cut-away. The image was used in both advertisements and tradeshow booth applications. | ||

Cover Illustration for March 2006 issue, Electronic Component News (ECN) Magazine; published by Reed Business Information; international monthly trade publication; 126,000 world-wide circulation. The Art Director asked for an image that would feature a reed relay (component), since the feature article for that issue would cover the current state-of-the-art in reed relays. The Technical Editor required technical accuracy in the portrayal of the reed relay, with red magnetic force lines. The Art Director wanted something “different”. This image provided something that “...our readers would not see anywhere else.”
This image was created using AutoDesk (Alias/Wavefront) Maya. 3D objects were modeled or pulled from an existing in-house library of 3D models of electronic components. Textures were created in Adobe Photoshop. |

Still Images and Animation
|
A high-quality valve manufacturer had to solve the basic problem of showing potential customers how their products are constructed, without the expense of physically cutting actual product, a process that more often than not, did not result in a “clean” presentation. The solution was to build 3D models of the products. Rather than make the models appear photo-realistic, stark color contrasts were used to allow clear identification of the various component parts of each valve. The resulting cutaway views were used in product data sheets. The models were built to allow them to be animated to show actual operation of the valve components. | ||

Motion Graphics
|
A manufacturer of hand-held calibration equipment wanted an attention-grabbing video that would continuously cycle for display on a large-screen video monitor at a tradeshow. There requirements were that the video should 1) showcase their products, 2) demonstrate their capabilities, and 3) acknowledge the recent merging of two well-known brand names in their industry. They wanted a 2-3 minute duration, with endless-looping capability, and an optional soundtrack.
Using product images, text, and separate sequences created for their corporate logo in 3D and layered backgrounds, a motion graphics sequence was composited to meet their requirements. Two versions were delivered, each with a different soundtrack. The sequences were delivered on a DVD with a simple menu for selecting which soundtrack (or none) was to play. |

2D Character Animation
|
A 2D, cartoon-like “mascot” character was created for promotional use. Various versions of the character were created to demonstrate the various capabilities of the company including art and design, writing, training/educational materials development, and photography/digital imaging. A 3-4 minute animated sales presentation was created where the various character versions introduced the viewer to key company capabilities. |

| 3D Animation | List Inc. is a Swiss company specializing in high viscosity processing equipment. To showcase their high viscosity mixing technology, they commisioned OEM Marketing Inc. to build a high-precision 3D model of their machine, animate the model, and generate a video sequence for use at tradeshows and other promotional events. The completed video was printed to both NTSC and PAL videotape. | ||

The model was built to their engineering drawings, to the same 0.001"+/- mechanical tolerances as the actual machine.

Interactive-Multimedia |
The US Army-Europe Headquarters had generated a number of resources for soldiers and their families in various formats (i.e. Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and videotapes of conference proceedings). Their goal was to consolidate all of these resources within a single interactive environment. This would allow each resource to be accessed from within the environment, or, individually, as needed.
OEM Marketing developed the interactive environment, catalogued and organized the various resources, and linked each one to various tables within the interactive environment. Several reprsentative screen shots of the interactive environment are provided. Screen shots are shown at 1/4 size. |
